CAUTION: I might offend you in this post.

I am now editing TV shows at MorningStar Church in Fort Mill, SC. It's a good job, a good church, great people, and it's going to pay well. I like it.

The show I just finished up was with Rick Joyner talking about The Religious Spirit. He was talking about how the religious spirit has pretty much taken the place of Jesus as the head of the church in America. I agree.

And it got me thinking about the trendy WWJD bracelets that were so cool to wear years ago. I remember getting one and thinking, "OK, this is going to help me not do bad things." Because Jesus wouldn't steal, Jesus wouldn't litter, Jesus wouldn't be rude to the guy at Starbucks, Jesus wouldn't cut anyone off.

And it's true, Jesus wouldn't sin, but let's also remember that Jesus was a man, a carpenter, a teenager, a fisherman, a boy... He really walked on this earth, and his feet hurt. He had body odor and pimples, He had bad hair days and I'm sure he wet his bed. He wasn't prancing around in a white robe and blue sash with 12 gawking men following him around all day. He wasn't a well groomed white man with conditioned brown hair. He looked like a scruffy carpenter with sandy feet and dirty clothes that probably smelled like fish. I'm not saying that He was sloppy, but I am saying that He was human. Wanna bet He stubbed His toe and got splinters? He didn't curse afterward, but I'm sure He tripped and fell when He was learning to walk.

What does this have to do with the religious spirit? Well, when you imagine Jesus more like a friend and a brother and less like a statue or a pompous icon, then you begin to feel more free to be real with Him and people around you. You let your guard down.

Todd Bentley doesn't look like a Christian. But that doesn't mean that he isn't like Christ. Todd Bentley is one of the most amazing men of God that I know of, and he looks more at home in a biker bar with a beer in his hand than he does behind a pulpit. He has tattoos on more places than I have places, a bald head and a massive goatee. He has the most amazing revelations and healing anointing, and is one of the craziest teachers I've heard, and he refuses to let the pressure of the church sway him.

That might sound like rebellion, and yes, there is a fine line between rebels and forerunners, but I think the church as a whole has gone too far out of their way to uphold traditions that Jesus doesn't even care about.

Honestly, do you think that Jesus cares if you sit in a pew? Do you think it matters to Him how loud the guitar is when you're worshipping Him? Jesus isn't looking at what you're wearing. Jesus isn't looking at the stain glass windows. He's not loving us less if we don't have a special Easter service. He isn't frowning on the kids running through the hall. He isn't Mr. Policeman. He cares only about your heart.

Don't get me wrong. Art it huge to God, and I'm not saying that He ignores the actions that we take when we offer something to Him, and I could pick it apart forever, but when it's all said and done, and we are before His throne, do you think He's going to stop us and tell us that we should have taken better care of the carpet? If you love Him, then yes, you will respect Him, and you will respect those around you. Again, I'm not saying it's OK be sloppy, but It is OK to be real. It is OK to be Human. That's what Jesus did.

Simple Green

So I quit Bloom.

I just find it interesting that my last post was about how I just started at Bloom, so instantly I become crazy busy and don't post. I was working about 16 hours every day, opening at Subway and then closing at Bloom, and it was insane. I then found out that MorningStar church was looking for a new video editor and I applied and got the job. I started this week and I'm loving it. At the very least it beats selling fish.

I was a little hesitant about working in a church environment again, but after talking to the video department here, and just due to the fact that they even HAVE a video department, I because encouraged and excited about actually putting together some cool stuff.

I am working at the old Heritage USA property, right next door to TheCause and ZHOP. My office is actually one of the old hotel rooms, and I even have a working bathroom. It's better, in every way, than my office at KPC.

My birthday is tomorrow, and as a gift, JVC is sending my camera back overnight. So I should have a perfectly working, fully repaired and completely under warranty high-definition professional camera tomorrow morning. So look out.

Speaking of professional cameras, I got to see a live demo of the RED camera. If you don't know what that is, or how cool it is, it is the digital equivalent to film. If you still don't have a grasp on how amazing that is, well, then I'm sorry for you. Because it's pretty amazing. And I want to share it with you.

Some updates since we last talked...

I have an iPhone that I got as a steal from craigslist.
Heather and I have 10 days to move out of our house.
Isaiah is walking almost all the time.
Call of Duty 4 for XBox 360 is like woah.
And I have to pee.
