bathroom? er, um, baboon?
So I deleted my "MySpace" account the other day. I kept saying that the ads were too much, and I was sick of all the spam, but I actually went through with it. It's amazing to me, looking back, at how dependent I am on social networking. 10 years ago I didn't have a cell phone. 7 years ago I didn't have the internet. 5 years ago I only used e-mail if I had to. And now I am addicted to posting on twitter, "checking" my facebook, and reading blogs. I sometimes feel like I'm caught inside of a Teen Magazine with all the gossip and drama, but at the same time I enjoy the simplicity of leaving notes on people's profiles and seeing new photos of my friends from back home. The lame part, at least in my mind, is when I read updates and look at photos of people who live near me. I mean, I can just have them over for coffee, or see them in the prayer room. It's funny. My biggest reason for erasing the myspace account is because I rarely got on for any real reason. I only communicated with a couple people through it, and I have means of talking to them outside of myspace. I still have a facebook account, which is a little confusing, but much more grown-up and controlled.
Either way, I don't have many excuses for not updating my blog except for the fact that recently I was told by someone I was avoiding that they read my updates all the time. So, maybe I'm just scared. Now my facebook is threatened.
